I tried Vuescan and it works but I begrudge spending out more money (and my mother seems to prefer the Epson Scan software (when it works))ġ. The Epson uninstaller doesn't work but I found instructions on how to manually remove the software and drivers by going round libraries and preferences to manually delete the components.īut no further forward. It's worth noting that between each install I uninstalled the previous versions. I tried re-installing the drivers and software several times and getting the download from various places. Seems to explain the problems quite well. They all show as version 2.73 and as PowerPC versions. I checked on the scanner software and drivers. The scanner software keeps freezing and, after doing a scan (at which point you can't scan again unless you reboot) the printer (an Epson R800) stops working at all. Epson offer driver 2.77a as the only driver that's for intel machines for this scanner. Given it's an intel machine I went to Epson's site for the new drivers that support the new chips. I've been trying to set up an Epson Perfection 3490 scanner on my mother's iMac.
